This week, we continue our progress in the project by focusing on the Home Management domain. After narrowing down our topic, we met in the lab to brainstorm and identify the key types of users we wanted to interview. We aimed to capture a variety of perspectives, ultimately deciding to speak with a young woman living with roommates, a student living with her partner, a young mother of three, a full-time professional, and a woman living alone.

The goal of these interviews was to gain a deeper understanding of how different people manage their homes and the challenges they encounter. We asked questions such as, “How do you handle household tasks?” “What is your biggest challenge in managing your home?” and “How does the state of your home impact your mental well-being, and vice versa?” These conversations gave us a rich understanding of their experiences, priorities, and pain points.

Once the interviews were complete, we regrouped to analyze the insights we had gathered. Four key themes emerged: the need for convenience and functionality, the challenge of balancing organization with daily life, the connection between the home environment and mental well-being, and the importance of creating a sense of belonging and personal expression.

These findings have given us a clearer understanding of the needs within this domain, setting a strong foundation for the next steps in our project. We’re eager to continue building on these insights and shaping solutions that truly address these needs.
